About Us 

Karralika Programs Inc. is a not-for-profit specialist alcohol and other drug organisation that provides programs for people in the Canberra and the surrounding areas. We support adults, young people and families to reduce the harms association with alcohol and other drug use through a variety of residential and community-based programs.

For our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and families, recovery and healing go hand in hard – where culture and connection are embedded into our approach.

Our Cultural Support and Liaison Workers are known in their communities, and provide important cultural support to our First Nations clients (men, women, children and families) participating in our programs. Working one-on-one with clients and as part of a team, your role will be to support First Nations clients to connect or reconnect with their culture, community and history. Parts of this role will also include working with men in the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC) and you will be required to undertake Security Awareness Training to access the AMC.

The role involves working with clients directly, cultural activities and information sharing, and engaging with clients and staff to embed culture within treatment plans. Liaison with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, Elders, community leaders and other agencies, also support the health and recovery journey of our clients.

Based in the ACT, you will work with teams and clients across our programs, and some activities will be working with non-Indigenous clients and staff working in our programs. You will be joining a supportive team, in a values-based organisation, who sees the potential in every individual.

Karralika Programs is seeking an experienced Case Manager to join our Canberra Residential Programs Team, to support individuals and families experiencing alcohol and other drug issues.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be known within your community
  • Strong cultural connections and ability to work with diverse family structures
  • Ability to work collaboratively with agencies and support culturally safe communication
  • Work with non-Indigenous clients and staff
  • Cert 4/Diploma in Health, Welfare or Community areas
  • Working With Vulnerable People Clearance
  • Driver’s License
  • Police Check
