Karralika Programs Inc has been supporting communities throughout the ACT and NSW for 45 years, providing quality support and intervention services for families and individuals impacted by alcohol tobacco and other drugs.
 
We employ a multidimensional approach to recovery, supporting our clients to learn about themselves behaviourally, cognitively, and emotionally to achieve and sustain positive outcomes for life. We have a multidisciplinary team of counsellors, case managers, alcohol and other drug workers, lived experience mentors and nurses across the organisation’s various programs who work with adults, couples, young people, children and families.
 
This full-time position works as part of a multidisciplinary team within our Residential Services, with a focus on supporting children 0-12 years and their parents living in the program as well as supporting adult residents who have children living in the community. Karralika complies with the National Child Safe Principles and works to continuously empower and value children and young people, hear their voices and engage them in decisions that impact them, engage with families and the broader community, adapt strategies to keep children and young people safe, and take action to promote child safety and wellbeing at all levels of the organisation.
 

The Child and Family Practitioner primarily provides therapeutic assessment, brief and therapeutic interventions, care planning and coordination to support each child’s needs and to amplify their voices and involvement in decisions using age-appropriate approaches. For our First Nations children and families, the Practitioner will work closely with our Cultural Support and Liaison Officer and support children and families to participate in cultural activities and services.In addition to one-on-one work, the Practitioner may work with families and also facilitate and co-facilitate groups, as well as working collaboratively with a range of health providers, child protection (where relevant), childcare/school and child and family services to meet the needs of the child and family.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

You will have experience and qualifications in a field working with children and families therapeutically. You will also require a current National Police Check, current Working with Vulnerable People Registration (ACT) and unrestricted Driver’s LicenceYou will be joining a supportive team, in a values-based organisation, who sees the potential in every individual.
