Karralika Programs is a non-government organisation providing residential and community-based treatment for individuals and their families who are impacted by alcohol and other drugs (AOD).
Operating throughout the ACT and NSW for 45 years, we provide a range of high-quality, evidence-based programs to support our clients to learn about themselves behaviourally, cognitively, and emotionally to achieve and sustain positive outcomes for life.

We now have a unique opportunity for an experienced Director of Clinical Services to join our Executive team full-time, preferably based in our Canberra head office.
The Opportunity
As the Director of Clinical Services, you will be responsible for ensuring all of our clinical programs are provided at an excellent standard. The role includes management functions, from human resources to budgets, to setting up new programs. You will form part of our executive team and work closely with the CEO to support our work to achieve the organisation's strategic goals and direction.
We have a range of programs across Canberra and regional NSW, including Wagga Wagga, Griffith and the South Coast, that will involve some travel to these locations. We are open to a candidate based in one of these service locations, with regular travel to Canberra.
This role supports the clinical staff, the CEO and the program managers. Our values of supporting people and their wellbeing extend to our staff as well as our clients. As Director of Clinical Services, you will do what you can to support the wellbeing of the clinical staff, who in turn support our service seekers.
This is a unique opportunity where you will have the versatility in your role to be able to provide advice to staff working with clients, right through to making executive decisions and influencing our organisation’s strategy and direction.
Your duties will include:
- Overseeing various services and ensuring the staff are supported and that our programs are running effectively, providing high standards of care;
- Setting up new services, including writing tenders and bids for grant funding, and creating business cases;
- Working with external stakeholders like funding bodies, community organisation leaders and referral partners;
- Providing high-level, sophisticated clinical support and advice to our staff and managers who work with our clients, promoting continuous practice improvement ;
- Lead and support the quality and risk domain of the organisation;
- Working with the executive team to support HR services and leadership; and
- Compiling and analysing client data for tenders and reports.

About You
As the Director of Clinical Services, you will have a strong background in AOD or other mental health services, and have experience in a role where you managed multiple programs or multiple sites.
This role forms part of our executive leadership team, and you will have experience in developing and overseeing clinical governance frameworks.
You will have:
- Minimum three years of management experience, including HR and program management
- Minimum 3 years experience in developing and implementing person-centred, evidence-based models of care
- A relevant Bachelors in addiction studies, social work, psychology, nursing or related
- Experience developing and leading teams of clinical staff
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
- High-level problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Strong research and analysis experience
- Experience in managing budgets, and developing funding and tender applications
